The film was shot in Hindi as Urdu, and was released on 14 January 2007. Good Boy Bad Boy is a remake of the 1992 American comedy film Class Act, which stars Charlie Sheen and Anson Williams. The film released on 27 December 1992.[6]Good Boy Bad Boy released on 27 December 2007, on the same day when The Devil Wears Prada was released as a Christmas film across the United States. In India, Good Boy Bad Boy was released on 14 January, 2007.[7] It was the second film released on the same date as planned in India.
The film received mixed reviews from the box-office and audience. The Evening Standard gave the film a mixed review citing that “it’s not an angry film, but is a comedy with a warning that loud mouthed tough guys or romantics are less than welcome in a world ready to turn on the charm” but added that “there is enough Gallic wit, smart observation and outrageous bad behaviour to keep the good-hearted crowd happy for two hours.” The film was not received very well by Emraan Hashmi and Tanushree Dutta. However, in 2016, the film emerged as very well received in media and Shahrukh Khan also assessed that the film was one of the best ‘comedy’ that he has ever seen. Emraan Hashmi very much loved some scenes especially the song ‘Chori Chori’ in the film. Others also praised the film.
The songs from the film which were recreated for the film received huge accolades in the form of perfect scores from music critics and eventually were praised by Bollywood Hungama as the’most successful album’ of 2007. Other songs from the film received rave reviews with songs such as ‘Aayega Aankhon Me’ and ‘Jaan Pagli India’. Many contemporary award-winners including Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan have sung the song Apna Aa Gayee The (Now I’ll Tell You)’.
